A praia de Odeceixe, a 3 km da vila com o mesmo nome é uma praia singular. Numa zona protegida - Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina, a praia oferece arribas de xisto, repletas de verde ou a debruçar-se sobre o Atlântico como a Ponta Branca, até onde é possível fazer um passeio a pé ou de bicicleta seguindo o traçado da Rota Vicentina.
Oferece também uma diversidade de avifauna e flora, sendo possível observar a particular nidificação das cegonhas brancas nos rochedos, e a foz da ribeira de Seixe, límpida e diversa nas suas mudanças consoante as marés.
O extenso areal da praia dá espaço a banhos de sol com à vontade, e as suas ondas são desejadas para aprender e praticar surf e bodyboard - Surf Seixe Academy. A qualidade das águas e do areal e suas infra-estruturas (Vigilância, WC, Posto de Turismo, Posto Médico) conferem-lhe o estatuto de Praia com Bandeira Azul. A vizinha praia das Adegas é reconhecida como praia naturista.
Entre Junho e Setembro é muito agradável utilizar o comboio turístico para fazer o trajecto entre a Praia e a Vila, observando no percurso todo vale onde corre a ribeira, e onde ainda se pratica a criação de gado bovino e o cultivo de milho, amendoim e outros produtos hortícolas.
Na zona baixa da vila encontra algumas infra-estruturas como o Mercado, os Correios, o Banco e ATM, a Padaria e a farmácia. Na Páscoa realiza-se em Odeceixe a Feira do Folar, e no Verão desenvolvem-se várias actividades culturais. O Largo é ponto de encontro da Vila, e onde se realiza o Mercado quinzenal de produtos locais.
Subindo as ruas com as suas casas típicas irá passar pela Adega, pela Igreja Matriz e pelo Moinho, que estão abertos ao público. No topo da vila – Malhadais, encontram-se o Centro de Saúde e os Mercearias locais. E deste ponto, pode fazer outros passeios para sul e explorar o canal de água, que faz um percurso desde a Barragem de Santa Clara, e outras surpresas que surgem a partir da biodiversidade deste local, entre as quais a batata doce, que aconselhamos a provar nos diferentes pratos regionais, assim como o peixe fresco, mariscos e o medronho.

Odeceixe beach, 3 km from the village with the same name is a unique beach. In a protected area – Natural Park Sudoeste Alentejano & Costa Vicentina, the beach is surrounded by shale cliffs filled with green nature or hanging over the Atlantic Ocean – Ponta Branca, were you can go walking or cycling following Rota Vicentina.
The beach offers a great biodiversity, and it’s the only place in the world where you can see stork nests on the cliffs. Here is the mouth of the stream Seixe with clean waters changing with the tides.
The sand has a big extension where you can sunbath quietly and the waves are wished for learning and practicing surf and bodyboard – Surf Seixe Academy. Sea water and sand quality and infrastructures like lifesavers, WC, Tourism Info Point and First Aid Care, make this beach recognized with the Blue Flag. Next to Odeceixe beach you can find Adegas, officially a naturist beach.
From June till September you can travel between the beach and the village using the touristic train and observe the valley where runs the Seixe stream and where people still farm corn, peanuts and other vegetables and have cattle.
Arriving at the village center you can easily find the market, post office, bank/ATM, bakery and pharmacy. At Easter we have Folar (traditional Easter cake) Fair and in the summer many activities. The village square is the meeting point and where people sell local products fortnightly.
Going up Odeceixe streets you will see typical houses and pass the Cellar, the Church and the Windmill, that you can visit in the summer. On the top of the village – Malhadais you find the Health Care Center and groceries. From this point you can go south and explore the water channel that starts at Santa Clara dam, and you can find other surprises watching the biodiversity, and also find sweet potato plantations that you must try in our regional dishes as well as fresh fish from the coast, shellfish and medronho to drink after the meal.
Surfing
Portugal é considerado por muitos um dos melhores destinos de surf na Europa. Devido à sua localização geográfica, Odeceixe oferece boas ondas durante todo o ano. Aqui encontras diversos locais com variados tipos de onda e fundos. Desde ondas tubulares até às ondas menos verticais e mais fáceis de surfar proporcionadas pelos fundos de areia ideais para uma segura iniciação à prática do Surf e Bodyboard.
Portugal is considered by many as one of the best surf destinations in Europe. Due to its geographical location Odeceixe offers good waves the entire year. From hollow waves until waves less vertical and easier to surf provided by ideal sandbanks, it’s a safe introduction to surf and bodyboard lessons.
Portugal wird von vielen als eines der besten Surf-Ziele in Europa angesehen. Aufgrund seiner geografischen Lage bietet Odeceixe wahrend des ganzen Jahres gute Wellen. Von tubularen Wellen bis hin zu weniger steilen Wellen, die besonders leicht zu Surfen sind – diese Region ist ideal für Einsteiger in die Welt des Surfens und Bodyboardens.
